My cousin is getting married over the weekend, congrats!
Weddings never fail to excite me, I think its because of the spinster-hormone uh.
So as a young spinster, I start to wonder. Well not about how grand my wedding gonna be, who is gonna come or where isit going to be held.
I wonder how much my hantaran(dowry or so called a sum of money that the groom give to the bride as a gift) is gonna be. Market value? Below market value? (by the way how much is the market value? like buy flat seh) Couple of months back, my mum’s friend who is a ‘mak andam’/the person who does the make-up for the bride and the groom said something like this, “eh don’t play play ok nowadays even the mak jans are expensive !” So what? does that mean if you’re a divorcee automatically your “re-sale value” drop?!
ONE OF MY AUNT (hah! I didnt mention any names okay) so called announce that if her daugther gets married she will put a price. SGD 20,000. Ouh and she even plan out how she is gonna split the money. She and her husband gonna take 5k each and the remaining her daugther can have it. In the first place, does the money belong the bride or the bride’s parents?
Don’t you think if all parent behaves like my aunt its somewhat like selling- your-daugther-at-their-wedding-scam. Not literally but ya… you still get the money don’t ya? Oii nak kahwinkan anak ker nak jual anak?
Honestly, I hope my parents won’t ‘thick-skin-ly’ name a price. At the same time I do hope my future husband is gonna damn be generous!
